Description
CBV001 is a circuit bent video enhancer meant to process Composite video. It generates effects ranging from soft color shifts to heavy distortion, with a CV input and attenuator allowing to control the contrast with an external control voltage.
NTSC/PAL compatible
SMD PCB Set includes the main board with pre-populated SMD components and front panel, all the other parts needs to be sourced and assembled by the user. BOM is available here.

It took me ages, but it’s finally there! The videosynth/rutt-etra vectorsynth. It’s not the build itself that took so long, but troubleshooting the essential modules was a true horror. But: it works! (Sort of... that empty 4hp is for my finger to touch the crystals of the RGB encoder to kickstart the machine...).
A modular seems to be never finished, but this certainly looks like one stage of it has been completed. Now let’s see how this thing works...

Happy 2026, as always, thanks for the support during the past year!
2025 has been a bit slow in terms of releases for Syntonie, mostly as the focus was made on production and re-stocking the existing line up of modules, so the good news is that (almost) everything is in stock currently!
Two modules were released last year:
Détail, a Composite video filter that builds upon Syntonie analog glitch legacy, bringing some classic analog video effects in modular format, with voltage controllable parameters so it integrates perfectly in the 1V ecosystem.
And Sortie, the new incarnation of our RGB encoder/sync generator, the heart and brain of any video synthesis system.

In combination with Entrée and Sortie, Seuils makes for a nice coloriser by processing R, G and B channels from an external video source.
Entrée converts the external Component video signal to RGB, so it can be processed by Seuils, and Sortie encodes the resulting RGB back to Component.
Patching feedback from Seuils outputs back into its CV input generates glitchy effects like ringing and/or clipping.

My prize showed up today from sleepycircuits video contest 🙌 Lovely Sleepy Circuits tee and a htp.syntonie #cbv001 circuit-bent video enhancer module. Already gave it my standard color coding treatment. 💖 Will be some time before I get my house back in order and can test this out, but I guarantee the very first thing I`m gonna say when I run a signal into it is "ENHANCE!" 🤣

Seuils is back in stock!
Here, it is used to modulate Stable parameters, with Stable pre-proc output going to Seuils inputs, making this keyed/clipped-like effect. Stable post-proc output is going into Seuils CV to add some feedback, with Seuils attenuverters controlling the amount of feedback.

Rare picture of myself in my natural habitat, staring (and probably cussing) at an oscilloscope.
Went into a major overhaul of my workspace at the beginning of the year, partitioning it into better defined areas, as well as adding more storage space. Pictured here are the prototyping bench (left) and the assembly bench (right).

Animate EXP and Solaire are back in stock!
Here is one of my go-to patch: ramps and shapes from Rampes into Cadrans, with amplitude modulation from Animate + Animate EXP to add some motion. Outputs of Cadrans into Solaire, outputs of Solaire into ReverseLandfill Matrix Mixer, encoded in Component 720p60 with Sortie.
(Note that this is the last batch of Animate EXP and it won’t be re-stocked, so probably time to grab one to add some waveforms to your Animate)

Stable is back in stock!
I was asked if Cadrans would make a good addition to Stable. While it is probably not as instantly gratifying as other processors like Solaire, Seuils or Isohélie, Cadrans and its amplitude modulation is a good way to modulate how much feedback is applied to Stable.
To do so, Stable post-proc output is connected to Cadrans input, output of Cadrans going back to Stable CV inputs, closing the feedback loop. Then, a pitch sequence from a step sequencer (here a Beatstep Pro) is used as CV for Cadrans, essentially automating the feedback in sync with the music.
