CBV001 is a circuit bent video enhancer meant to process Composite video. It generates effects ranging from soft color shifts to heavy distortion, with a CV input and attenuator allowing to control the contrast with an external control voltage.
NTSC/PAL compatible.
Assembled and tested module, housed in a 3D printed enclosure, comes with a universal 12VDC/500mA power supply.

Same size and features as VU007B, revamped UI for easier format selection/external format display, and DC power input.
Sortie (french for output) is a RGB to Composite/S-video/Component encoder and sync generator supporting SD and HD.
The internal standard is selected by the mean of a push button, with a dedicated LED indicator for each standard.
When an external video signal is present at the sync input of the module, the standard will be selected automatically and the external sync LED indicator will light up.
RCA sync I/O at the rear of the module.

Had an amazing time in Oregon!
Thanks to everyone involved in making Video Sync 2025 happen, it’s a rare occurrence to be surrounded by so many great video artists and toolmakers.
Spent some extra time there to complete most of the side quests available like visiting the Tektronix Museum, hiking in Mount Hood and Hamilton Mountain trail.
As always, some pictures processed through the modular synth in 1080p30, with Entrée, Isohélie, Solaire, Cadrans and Sortie.
I’ll post about Sortie really soon, production is done, first pre-orders will ship in the next days, currently working on the documentation.
Regarding US orders, unfortunately had to raise the shipping fees as French national post stopped their services for the time being, so all orders will now ship with UPS.

It took me ages, but it’s finally there! The videosynth/rutt-etra vectorsynth. It’s not the build itself that took so long, but troubleshooting the essential modules was a true horror. But: it works! (Sort of... that empty 4hp is for my finger to touch the crystals of the RGB encoder to kickstart the machine...).
A modular seems to be never finished, but this certainly looks like one stage of it has been completed. Now let’s see how this thing works...

Video synthesis speed patching #1
- Shapes/ramps from Rampes are sent to a 1st Cadrans set as crossfaders (white cables)
- Slow modulation from VHS Baja is going to 1st Cadrans CV inputs (purple cables)
- Outputs of 1st Cadrans going to Solaire for mixing/solarizing (green cables)
- Outputs of Solaire going to a 2nd Cadrans for final color balance/inversion/negative space (black cables)
- Outputs of 2nd Cadrans going to Sortie for RGB encoding to 720p60 Component (orange cables)

I’ve been asked about how Stable and Solaire looks when patched together, so here we are!
Solaire is based around full wave rectifiers, which when applied to video, produces an effect known as solarization. It makes the picture brightness « fold on itself », and it is here used as modulation on Stable parameters.
In the second part of the video, the post-processor output of Stable is used instead of the pre-processor output, creating a feedback loop and Solaire having quite a high gain (up to 16 times), it produces a lot of noise (let’s see how it get through Instagram compression).
